Community Media Network and ARTAfor Media & Developmentsign MOUto train Syrian journalists

Community Media Network(CMN), and the Syrian ARTA For Media & Development (ARTA) signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at increasing cooperation between the two organizations in the areas of institutional building media training and content exchange.

Siruan Hadsch Hossein, the executive director of ARTAcalled the agreement a natural progression of the close cooperation between the two organizations. “We owe so much to CMN for their efforts to help us in our early years and we want to build on that effort by taking advantage of the deep talent pool that exists in Jordan.”

Daoud Kuttab director general of CMN said that exchanging skills and radio content between the two organizations is in the DNA of our organization and we are very happy to see how ARTA has grown in the past years both professionally and in keeping the values of cultural tolerance and diversity.” ARTA broadcasts radio programs in Arabic, Kurdish and in Assyrian languages.

CMN had supported ARTA in its early days in 2013 as part of the Aswatona community radio program supported by the Swedish Development Agency (SIDA).

Community Media Network will train journalists from ARTA’s three radio stations in different locations including inside Syria, in Jordan as well as working with its journalists online.

ARTA For Media & Development is registered in Germany and worksin the Kamishly district. It administers three Radio stations in the north east of Syria.Community Media Network’s Radio al Balad and Ammannet website will also exchange content with ARTA’s radio stations including in Kamishli in Amudah and recently a station that broadcasts to Raqaa after the end of the Daesh rule.
